I'm setting up a test forum for evaluation to use on our intranet site. With NT Authentication a new user enters the forum and a member is auto-created, but the required email field is blank. Since the user is already registered, the "please register" link is gone, and there is no other prompting to go in and complete the profile. This causes several problems including:
1. The welcome message sent to the user results in an undeliverable email.
2. The next new user that logs in will get a "Email address already in User, Please choose another" error. (At least that gets them thinking).
3. The user can still "subscribe" to forums (more undeliverables), and there just isn't an address for sending messages to the member.
I did have to modify several fields in the MEMBERS table to allow null values and that resolved most of my other problems getting started (not the email field). Anyone else run into this?... any suggestions?
