Some time ago I posted an inquiry as to whether or not there was such a MOD in existance which could search not only forum messages but also the Links MOD, Classifieds MOD, a web site's regular web pages, etc.
I was told it would be a lot of work.
While researching Chili!Soft ASP, I came across the open source search engine they use. It is called Htdig at www.htdig.org.
I read the following tutorial about using a few technologies in conjunction with one another www.htdig.org/files/contrib/guides/Installing_on_Win32.html." target="_blank">http://www.htdig.org/files/contrib/guides/Installing_on_Win32.html. However, the search engine appears to run best on a straight Unix/Linux environment.
Question:
If this open source search engine is configured correctly for Snitz, could it feasibly serve as a search engine which will search all of my web site's data including database and non-database information?
Sincerely,
Etymon
