OK ... I know that there is a MOD-specific forum, but that seems way over my head at this early [in my Snitz/ASP career] juncture ...

In General:

  • If I find a MOD I'd like to utilize in my forum, how do I install it? Can I simply FTP to my site? Or, must my host install it right on his server?
  • What files should I be sure NEVER to alter ... until I know what I'm doing, if that day ever comes?
  • What's the most reliable source of MODs?

For the moment, I'm interested in what I consider the more basic stuff, like adding more smileys, etc. [Though Snitz Chat might be intriguing!]

Thanks, in advance ...

The majority of MODS will contain a 'readme' file in the zip with detailed instructions on how to install. Ocassionally, you'll need to upload new files and ocassionally you'll need to make modifications to your existing files. Just follw the instructions to the letter and you shouldn't have any probs.

One of the best sources I've found for MODS is the excellent Snitz Exchange, but there are many more out there, just try searching the web.

Good luck with it all!

Doesn't work for me...

I tried installing Avatar Mod v2.0, and it's .dbs file doesn't have an entry in the MOD Installation screen. It's rather annoying, as my board keeps giving me database errors now...

HELP!!!! :)

Sounds like you have missed something or did something wrong. What are the errors?

...should be moved to Mod Implementation Forum...

Well, turned out - not that I am surprised, mind you - that it wasn't as easy as it sounded.

I tried to install both the FAQ & Snitzzy Chat MODS ... failure in both cases.

I forget the exact error messages, but in the latter case, there just WASN'T any board!

I am running version 3.3.05 with an Access Database.

Any ideas?

PS - In the case of the Chat ... exactly where should the chat folder be placed? IN the messageboard folder? Or, not?
