Eh. v3.x is not internationalized, so does not have any language files. Next major version upgrade will be v4, which is internationalized. It is now in beta stage. The last beta v4b03.004 (i.e. v4b03 with applied patch004) is the internationalized version of v3.3.05, proved to be stable. Non-major bugs from v3.x still remain, but they will be solved in v3.4 and thus v4b04.
... And, Language packs are for v4x...
All this info, download links etc are in the "Start Here" topic (link in my signature). Why don't you read it throughly? (Deja Vu)

Thank you bozden for your help so far !
sorry if I sound naive and stupid but this is all new to me.I'm lost.I have read the spanish forums and there are examples of the snitz forum in place, in spanish.I downloaded a language file with gifs from such forum. So, like me, a new person looking for just a stable spanish version of this forum, will find it pretty difficult.Because the jargon is difficult with different versions, patches etc, the forum is outdated and there are links everywhere.
Can anybody advice on what to do next or where to go.

There is no Spanish version of v3.3.05. If you want to try, you can do it with v4beta only. It is as stable as v3.3.05 is. But the support is not so good (it's only me from the Dev-Team ). But it is usually not advised to use it in production.
You only need to download them and do a couple translations.
Sorry if I sounded too technical.

ok I think I have something, i took your advice.I read the start internationalisation. downloaded CURRENT VERSION: v4b03.004 with the patches and added the language file lang1034.asp which I found previously. Through initial testing I found the translation very good, but as you said, it might need 'tweaking'. any comments?

You can now start with regular installaton procedure (read the readme.txt first). The missing strings will not provent it from working.
This post (see below) lists the variables missing in that language file, just add them in sorted order. Delete those that are marked DELETED, add those under title ADDED. For the ones listed under MODIFIED, please find the strings from Lang1033.asp
