Far be it from me to criticize - I really do appreciate all the work you guys do. It has benefitted me and my users greatly. I almost didn't post this because I hate being critical of someone's volunteered efforts.
Here's my request: When you post Security Announcements, please put detailed, isolated instructions in the announcement.
quote: please see here:
http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=28244
there is instructions for patching inc_top.asp
and a replacement inc_top_short.asp file.
This affects both v3.1SR4 and v3.3.xx
That linked thread took me some serious reading, re-reading, and more reading to figure out. It's also not a solitary exception - many of the Security Announcements link to similarly confusing threads. If someone doesn't understand the issue at hand, it's hard to follow these discussions. I'm certainly not an expert, but I'm far from the most inexperienced admin of Snitz forum, so I know I'm not alone there. I really think any Security Announcement should have isolated, detailed instructions in the announcement.
Again, I'm sorry to be critical. -Dan

I just try to get the fix out as quickly as possible. I'm sorry you have a problem with the format in which the information is conveyed. If anyone has questions or problems with how to apply a fix, they can always ask questions. Most times, if they are really having problems, we will offer to fix it for them. I think what we provide is more than adequate. |
