Can someone pleeeaaaasssseeee help me?
I'd like convert the search form on search.asp so that it also searches my ads in the Classifieds MOD, the Link Manger MOD, as well as searches for matches in my web site.
Is there a miracle out there?

You would be far better doing this from scratch, the search form is specific to the forums, and as such would not convert easily.
I think you will find there are already searches available for the links MOD

I just posted the following topic about finding a tutorial: http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=27989
Based on that request, how hard might it be for someone like me to create a search engine from scratch?
Thanks for the reply,
Etymon

One thing you might do is use a select box to choose what you want to seach in from one form and have the selected option go to the page that processes selected criteria.

Yeah, that's the idea. I've seen that before. Didn't know how to word it though. How might I do that? Isn't it scripting?
Thanks for the input!

There wouldn't be much scripting at all. You would just need to make sure that the pages the search form sends to expect the name of the searches input box or the querystring. This is from search.asp:
If Request.QueryString("mode") = "DoIt" then if Request.Form("Search") <> "" then
Searches for Classifieds and Links should be looking for the same name and/or Querystring("mode") for one search box to be used. Or you could have hidden form elements holding the specific info needed.

After reading it again and taking a look at search.asp I think you would be better off using the Quicksearch MOD in the archives and using the select box there. Otherwise it would require some scripting. The Quicksearch makes it a lot easier and all you need is something to redirect to the right search processing script.

Oh!!! Please show me the way to the archives!
I've heard of the MOD called "SuperSearch". Is this the same one?
Very happy to be hot on the trail,

No, it's not the Supersearch. That is a cool MOD but extremely difficult to implement and it would be cool to have a search that went through Topics, Classifieds and Links with results in the SuperSearch style but that is quite a job. The Archives can be access by clicking the "A" icon on the main forum page next to the forum you want. You can find what you want in the Archives by checking the "Archived Posts" box on the search page.
