Some of you may already have seen my NewsFlash MOD and maybe even installed it, for the original post look here:

I'm currently working on Version 1.2 and want ideas for new features that people would like to see. The following is list of new features currently being implemented or planned for Version 1.2:
Formatting Buttons: Standard formatting buttons added to Add and Edit Alert Popups.
Popup Lock Alerts: Popup Window for locking and unlocking Alerts.
Improved NewsFlash File: Files like the inc_newsflash.asp and newsflash.asp have been improved to make them run smoother and make them easier to update.
View All Alerts Page: A page that lists all Alerts that any given member is able to view.
Admin Overide on Alert Locks: Allows Admin to overide the Alert locks of other Administrators.
View Counts and Logs: Either simply count how many times an Alert has been viewed or log who's viewed it and when.
AutoExtend: Alerts which have been viewed over x numbers of times then have their expiry dates extended each time they are further viewed and are marked as Popular Alerts.
Alert Holding: Alerts can be held for up to 7 days before actually being displayed to members and visitors.
If anyone has any further suggestions for features to be added to this MOD please feel free to suggest them as all ideas are welcome.

what about when a member has viewed the newsflash, it disappears from the screen, like the poll mod. you vote and that's it...
just an idea. if i am missing the point here, please tell me...
by the way: i like the idea!

you might also (at least i think it's nice) add a little blinking text to the topic some posts (at the bottom) stating that there is news for that member.
if you check my site, you will see that i have some info at the bottom of each post, like the number of posts, the country, etc
it might be nice to have a flashing text news waiting appear there when there is news.
just an idea...

I've just been to your site and its very nice looking, very cool site!!
The News Waiting thing could be an idea, that might be easier to implement as well, I also thought of adding a cutdwon version of the NewsFlash include to inc_top_short.asp that would display a short message like "x Alerts Waiting!".
I still have to finish implementing the View Logs and then I'll start adding the suggested features.

I've now implemented all the features listed in the first post of this topic. I have also now implemented Crash's first idea of having viewed Alerts disappear once viewed and have that up and running on my live development copy on my forums.
I am going to implement the topic bar idea but I'm not sure what I'm going to put on it, especially if I'm going to calculate how many alerts are waiting for each member!
If anyone has any further suggestions then please make them!

Please forgive me if this question has already been addressed, but will the NewsFlash MOD be searchable?
My BIG quest right now is to find a MOD that can search the other MODs (Link Manager, Classifieds, etc) along with the forum.
Just a wild thought.

Well, yeah. I think me doesn't know what the NewsFlash MOD does ... I was thinking this MOD was similiar to the Newsletter/News MOD.
What I have been after today is addressed here in this topic:

I've not done anything on the MOD for about a month but I'm gonna try and finish it very soon and get the new version released. But I do have the small matter of my GCSE exams to be attending to... 
Note: The NewsFlash MOD already contains checks to ensure that malicious code cannot be passed in the querystring and executed by the scripts. Thus the MOD is compatible with v3.3.04 and v3.3.05 as it has security measures in place.
