What to choose of: Access, MySQL and SQL server? Whats the difference? (I have support for all of them on my server).

And then, with Snitz Forums, can you add own smileys? Animated smileys (gifs) too?
Can you make a poll in a post/thread?
And do you support messaging to other users? (private/personal messages)
Thanks for a nice free forum anyway,...

Joachim

the type of DB is totally up to you. you have to support at least one of them of course...
if you have or plan to have a really often visited site, i'd say SQL. for starters, you're very well off with Access.

yes you can add your own smilies. even animated ones. this will require the smile manager though...

yes, we do have and use polls. we have a poll MOD for that

and finally, yes we support private messages. we call it the PM MOD and it is available also

hope that answers your questions

I just emailed my "server man" (the hosting company..)
And he said that they did not have support for asp at the time.. But they have support for PHP. Wich he says is less resource demanding and faster then CGI.
He also recommends using a PHP forum.
If I choose to set up as CGI, i might be asked to convert it to PHP if it steals too much resources.

Does your forum work in PHP? Or is it "ASP only"?

I have alredy a MySQL database set up... So i think i will go for that...
What's the difference between SQL and MySQL?

Joachim

By the way: Do you have a option to "get a mail if you get any answers on your thread" thing?
