Hi~
i try to translate SnitzForum to my language - Chinese Big5
and i found a problem when i want to insert forum code by PROMPT method..

if i typing any ChineseBig5 character, then it just appear the half of code. ex. it just show (red)big5¤¤¤å¦r... the part of (/red) can't appear correctly.
but if i typing english without 8-bit character, it just everything be fine..

why it happening ??

and i also try the Enhanced Formating Mod installed, but still the same problem.

i am not very familiar about program or ASP, hope someone can help me solve this problem.

thanks! :)

I would say a couple of things:

1. A link to your forum would help
2. You would get better support if you posted this into Internationalization forum
3. Why don't you try v4b03.004, although it is beta, there is also a translated one (see link in my signature).
4. Make sure you use Access 200x for unicode data
5. Try utf-8 as encoding

I cannot say more without seeing it... Hope this helps...

thx bozden,

u can see what i've done here http://doramoon.viewpoint.net.tw/

maybe i found this problem a little too late..
i use Snitz 3.3.0.3 & Access2000. and i already translate most of it to Chinese Big5..
it take me much time to do this work, so i wonder how i can upgrade to v4b03 easily. (i think it will be a big hard work for me again :-P)

i found it already have a Big5 workgroup in Internationalization forum (oh, why i never notice this section here before, thx bozden!! i think this section will save me much time..)
but the link to http://www.piggus.net/forum/ seem unavailable, so i can't download the language pack to try it.

and one thing important, i really not know much about program. so maybe i need more time to understand this Internationalization section..like what's LCID ? how this translate work ??...and so on..

can someone explain for me what's "uft-8 encoding" ???
if i want to setup or modify this, what should i do ??

thanks again for kindness help.

Ehm. I cannot read it and cannot type, but tried some cut & paste. See here: http://doramoon.viewpoint.net.tw/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=212

I don't see any problem, or I just could not get it :)

Thanks bozden again ..

now the only problem is when user change the forum code mode to "Prompt" (default is "Basic", but for many new users i think the Prompt mode will be more friendly).
then if i press a format button like "Bold", in the popup Script remind window, u just can input enligh characters correctly.

u can try copy/paste some ChineseBig5 words in the popup script window, then u will find it just appear (bold)big5¤¤¤å¦r...

the end of (/bold) will not show..

i'm very appreciate if u can go trying again for me.

thank u very much !

I did not understand how the other error is gone. But anyway, the "prompt" mode uses JavaScript to enter the code. I tried it with cut & paste and it worked. please look at the topic again and post some string in your language that causes the problem. I will cut & paste it to try...

Is this v4beta or you just translated it file by file? If second case is true, maybe there is a problem with your coding. But these should work same for both of us.

Really confused. Did you play with inc_functions.asp (MODs etc)?

thx bozden ~
yeh, i just translate file by file. and now i just use Snitz v3.3.0.3.
i also installed "many" MODs or some modifications...

but about this problem, i also try it on a totally fresh Snitz 3.3.0.3.
and i found the same problem.

so i think it's not a coding error. anyway, i will check the codes again, maybe somewhere mistakes by myself.

thanks for help.
