Downloaded the file and followed the instructions carefully, but am ending up with the error that can be seen at:
http://www.testmagic.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=416
Of course, after this post, I'll fix it. So, for those of you who will be reading this AFTER I fix it, here's the ugly code I get, instead of the smilie:

Anyway, I suspect I copied the code into the wrong places because everything was working fine, but I thought I did everything so carefully...
I will double check it, though, and post back with results.
Thanks for your beautiful work, Nathan, and Da_Simulator.

Okay, as I promised, I'm posting back with a summary of my results. First, sorry I didn't search, Crash, I'm not sure what I was thinking. I always search before I post, but somehow I forgot to this time. Wasn't thinking as clearly last night as I am now.
Anyway, I read all the posts that showed up after a search for "Smile Manager" and seem to have resolved part of the problem. I didn't use a "virtual path" (I think that's what you call it) because I wasn't sure how to do it.
Part of my confusion arose because after making the changes, the code was still there. I decided to make another test, both with the new smilie and with a second one with a different code (for example, [ns] and [ns2]). That did the trick.
I still have a couple of questions, like why the smilie icon for the MOD doesn't appear, only the X appears, showing the path of the image is wrong. I assume that somehow the link is broken or the path is wrong, but I'll check it out and try to fix it. And I'll post back with my results so that others might learn from my experience.
----
Okay, I just found that the icon (in my inc_post_buttons.asp page) links to:
img src="icon_editor_extra_smile.gif
So, I just need to upload that new gif.
My other question, the answer to which I've searched diligently, is whether it's possible to "merge" the two buttons. Yes, I know I could copy all the smilies from the standard Snitz interface to the new one, but I'd like to make sure I didn't miss something.
Thanks again for your help, Crash, and sorry for my lapse.

I think I've got it all figured out now.
Crash, I went to your web site and registered, and saw what you've done with all your code and MODs. It all looks great!
I also saw how you did the categories in your Smile Manager. That also looks great, and I'd like to do the same, but a little later. I don't want to do too much at one time lest I err; I don't know much about ASP, and adding these MODs, updating bugs, patches, etc. helps me to learn.
My confusion arose from my mistaken belief that somehow implementing the Smile Manager would allow me to add smilies to my existing pop_icon_legend.asp, so when the new smilies didn't appear on that menu, I was confused.
However, I've found that it's pretty simple to add the new smilie codes that I create to pop_icon_legend.asp, and am now very satisfied with the way it's working!
Now onto the color mod!
Thanks again for your help, Crash.
