Anyone who is hosting their own server and using IIS 4.0, 5.0 or 5.1, should apply this patch ASAP.

As soon as I saw this I understood some of the odd requests that were showing up in my reports. The scary thing is that they started a week agoand the patch came out today

When I first found this, it hadn't been added to Windows Update yet. It should be on there now though.

What hosed your server? That Catchup thing or the patch?

MS has a tool also for checking server security. It's available at:

Sorry, the patch. Its seems to work ok if you install with or have all ready installed the com+ Rollup package.

How did it hose your server? I've had intermittant DNS issues on one of mine since the install. Just something I've stumbled across, and I'm still not sure if it's me or COX... Could be just a coincidence, but it's something I'm keeping an eye on. Installed the patches on a total of 5 servers and that's the only *MAYBE* problem I've seen...

With patch installed sql would not start and 0x0000004e PFN_LIST_CORRUPT blue screens, removed patch then IIS would not start reinstalled with the COM+ rollup and seems ok now.
