While on other message boards, I noticed a simple little gizmo that helped. All topic titles had "title" text on them. That is, when you put your mouse over them, you could read some of the thread without having to click on it.
So I looked into it and came up with three simple changes to the code of forum.asp that would result in this effect. Apparently it does not work in Netscape, although I have not tested it.

Note: I am using version 4.03 (international version)

Here is what I changed:

I took out the code from here because I improved it. Check out my latest post at the end of the page.

It's that simple and this has been a tremendous hit with our users.

Cheers!

Sorry, I should have shown you a demo:

Just go into any forum that has topics (it's a new board just for support issues on a brand new site, so not many topics).

Just a little comment, I don't think this will work in Netscape, because NS doesn't support the alt or title text propertie.

You might want to filter HTML tags out of the alt text.

you can also specify the same in the title property for <td> or <tr> tags. That is what I do on my site.

Look here

I also did the same thing for Forums under categories.

This is highly cool! How would I do this for a 3.3 board? The HTML tag stripping idea is an excellent feature as well!

I know this has already been discussed somewhere else, but it would be really great if a new MOD would be available for the current final Snitz Forums version...

These are all great ideas! I like putting it on the TR TD tags, too! Do we have an HTML filter in the inc_functions?

I could put together a mod for this, but I'd rather wait for the new version to be out. Then I could package it all up!

If anyone else has this, please tell me so I don't do the same thing all over again

Cheers!

Oh I didn't realise it was so complicated to make it work for the current version that you'd have to wait for the next one.

Would it be hard to make exactly what you do have availible for 3.3.03?

Not sure but <ACRONYM> I think is supported by both browsers, I've used that in the past to do something similar.

Alright, I'll make a package with this mod for the current version . I don't know what will change to tell you the truth, so I decided to go ahead and do it.

I'll try acronym... let's see what happens...

Had a thought! I don't know if it's already doing it, but in an absolutely ideal world, it should also strip forum code :)
