Active.asp is the page I use most on this forum, because it is the easiest way to keep track of all the topics posted here in a day.
One problem though is that when I close the browser, come back a few hours later and want to find a topic I read earlier that day it often is hard to find, because unless someone else has replied to it in the mean time, it doesn't show in active.asp
I added a selectbox to active.asp (Version 3.1 SR3 Beta 4) so not only can you select to show the active topics since your last visit, but also since last hour, last day, last week and last month.
This only effects what is displayed on the active.asp page and doesn't effect the Last_Here_Date in the database and in the session variable. On the default.asp, forum.asp and topic.asp pages the Last Here Date is always used to decide if a topic is active or not.
The selected value defaults to Last Visit and is stored in a cookie that is destroyed when the browser is closed, so when you return it defaults to Last Vist again and you can set it to any of the others if you like.
Download the modified active.asp here and just copy it over the one you've got. This should work with all versions since 3.0 final (I think).

Nice one gor,
I have problems with my connection timing out and then losing half the active topics I hadn't looked at, so this should help.
I have also posted a mod for bookmarking topics which is also a great help.

I have made a few posts about dodgy chars in the files which seem to cause some people problems, but not others, anyway I downloaded your active.asp and this is what it looks like in my file compare utility. <img src="http://195.149.32.155/tools/goractive.jpg" border=0> The black bars should be new lines

So I am the one breaking the forum ? <img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_blush.gif border=0 align=middle>
Any idea what could be causing this ? I'm 100% sure I never switch to any other view than the HTML view.

No idea, I'm sure it can't be Interdev. Do you have some strange setting for unix or anything?
What did you zip it with? maybe it was that. Could you email me the asp file, I can check if it's ther to start or wether it is the zipping or uploading maybe

I use Winzip on a W2K machine, not special setting as far as I know. I used a browser based system that look like what they use at brinkster to upload the file to the server at hetnet.nl (were you downloaded it). I'll send you the file tonight (haven't got the unzipped file here at work) so you can have a look.

ok, some good news and some bad news:
When I opened the file in Visual Interdev it looked just fine, but when I opened it in Notepad it was all messed up (with the black bars). What I did after that was opening it in Wordpad and saving it as a textfile again. That removed all the black bars and made it display correct in both Notepad and Visual Interdev.
Opening and saving it in Visual Interdev afterwards didn't break it (at least not right away, or the few times I tested).
The good news is, it looks like there is an easy way to fix it, the bad news is that I can't tell it is messed up while I'm working in Interdev <b>and</b> the fact that I really have no idea what caused it.

Oh well,
I use my file diff program to migrate each new version to my code, so generally pick them up.

So do we need more votes to see if this new active.asp (without the black bars) should be included in the next release ? <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

does this work ?????
<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote> Active.asp is the page I use most on this forum, because it is the easiest way to keep track of all the topics posted here in a day.
