Ok basically moderators are limited to deleting posts, editing posts, etc. On my forum i need my moderators to be able to lock member accounts, and ban members. I know your saying why dont you make your moderators admins, well I dont want them to be able to access the other admin option such as color configuration, feature configuration, etc. I just want them to have the option to ban members and lock member accounts and probably some more stuff. Is there any way that a mod could be created to allow moderators access to a MODERATOR OPTIONS area (something like how the ADMIN OPTIONS area is but with limited features), and maybe give admin the ability to specify what kind of features the MODERATOR OPTIONS will include such as banning, etc..

im of the opinion that there should be another lelvelbetween moderator and admin added to the basecode, whereby admin can select individual options for every moderator, so certain mods can delete members whereas others will not have this ability.
This is a feature used in Vbulletin, and which adds an extra level of security to the forums.

I agree. Admin should be level 5 and a supermoderator level 4. I was planning on making these changes my self after 3.4 came out. It would be nice to have it in the base code

The most important thing for me is the options to change permissions dependant on both moderator, catagory of forum, and down to each forum.
The usergroup mod which was being ranted about would probably be worth looking at, basing mod options on usergroups is the way Vbulletin works too.

What would really be nice is a Role Editor.
Basically, you can make your own custom roles and then assign them to people.
Supermoderator could be one... or Minimoderator - can post, approve posts, but can't lock or delete.
And maybe you would want someone who can use some Admin features but not all.
Instead of adding another mlev... why not just make it generic.
