Richard said this can be due to change over from Yahoo to new owners. And some might have become inactive

I had the WebLink pic on my forum, like the one on the Snitz front page, and now this morning it has been replaced by this

This is where the link takes you to now http://dir.webring.com/rw, anyone know of a way to restore this to the original? or what we do to have a normal working link?

I checked a few other forums and they have the same graphic as mine now to

I visited one of the site in the ring (don't remember which) that was part of a couple of rings, but all four or so ring-graphics on their page were the graphic that you see in the post by Intrepidone.
So I think it is something not Snitz ring specific but something that happens to 'all' WebRing rings.

Is this going to be 'not-free' sometime soon, because they display this info:

Annual "cost" of this Ring: $4.53
(fixed: 4.10, bandwidth: 0.44)
?

They have been doing something weird lately. Last week a went through over 100 submissions and processed them all. But when I checked again this week, 39 sites that I had already processed were back on the New Submissions list. I'm thinking they had to restore their database or something, but I haven't seen any news or announcement about it.

I think the banner shown above is what get's show from the <noscript> tag.

I tired logging in but it says my userid does not exist. I still have the email from my userid when I got the response back. Not to sure what my pw is but I only use about 10 pw's and I tried them all.

Intrepidone,

Did you migrate your account from Yahoo to Webring? Webring just completed the transfer of everything from Yahoo to Webring, so if you didn't migrate your account, you might have to setup a new one.

Quite often we get asked how can i get more users.

Well I was a bit bored today, and thought i would visit a few sites on the SnitzRing. But instead, I visited the Hub, and had a look at the statistics.

There are currently only 20 sites in the ring, but theses figures show you haw many times people click on the webring to go to a site.

Ranked: 8wks 2wks
1 987 453 Snitz Forums 2000
2 320 108 Huw's Snitz Forum test Site
3 92 6 Nick's NTN Trivia Info
4 85 22 Gorbunok's Unemployment Forum
5 83 16 Dunzell's Den

So, if you join the webring, you will get a share of that traffic, and the more sites in the ring, the more traffic will be generated.

Hi HuwR!

I Signed up for the ring a while ago, but My site did not appear!
Also tryed to sign up again, but then I got the message that my site was already registred.

BTW I did not replace the banner after updating the code

Ole!

okvalle,

Your site is in the ring, but it is suspended because you don't have the webring code on your page.

Okay, now that things have cooled down about who is and who isn't in the Snitz webring I'll ask my question again:

Stupid question probably, but webrings are usually generated by a company like yahoo and maintained by the person who came up with the idea for the specific ring, right?

Now where should I go to find the webring(s) that I might like to join? What sites have good rings?
Also, what should I look for in a good webring? Should it have a lot of websites in the ring, or would it generate more trafic if there are only a few sites in the ring?

This depends of course on the nature of the ring.
A ring with a specific audience will always atract less people (but more interested people) then a ring with a lot of sites.

You can compare it with an e-mail advertising campaign:
unsollicited mail will be recieved by a larger audience than a specific mailinglist about some topic. The first one will generate more traffic, but less people will be interested than with the first one.

Of course this doesn't mean that a ring with a lot of sites is bad, and rings with only three sites aren't any good either. Try to stick to 1 or two rings that have to do with your sites content (eg the starlight express ring), this will surely generate more traffic and the people that visit will be interested.

Pfew, enough typing for one post , best of luck with your site
