I am still getting the same error:
I installed it "out of the box" - the paths are correct, the names are correct,
yet it doesn't recognize the drivers??? I also set the db to read/write-nothing.
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] '(unknown)' is not a valid path. Make sure that the path name is spelled correctly and that you are connected to the server on which the file resides.
inc_system.asp, line 57
Paths are as follows:
main
main/chat
default.asp is in CHAT
MAILS.MDB and SYSTEM.MDB are in CHAT
inc_system.asp points to /mails.mdb and /system.mdb
(in the chat root directory)
Help someone please,I have a guest chat coming up and
I really wanted this to work for me. 
email me if you have to, I just need this fixed :(
the support site is no help- and looks abandoned.
If you can't build it, don't fly it. |

Are there any other changes coming for this chat?
It would be cool if we could see some of the following enhancements:
- Option to Turn off Images(some peoples computers don't do well with them)
- Option to have text scroll down instead of up(Lots of people ask me about that)
- For some reason your Color doesn't save. It would be neat if it did.
- Capitalize the First leter in the Name
- Fix bug where someone entering or leaving the chat erases the last thing that was said in the chat.
- Fix bug where lines seem to disappear on your screen when others are sending messages to a specific person.
- Fix /page function. It crashes peoples chat or just doesn't show up right now.
There is probably more, I just can't think of it right now. But these would be a great start! It is the neatest chat I've seen so far though. I just wished it worked with more browsers.

I wanted to update everyone on this chat, so no-one was mistified by my posts. wii helped me to find out how to set it up-thanks thanks thanks. That out of the way, I not only had to edit inc_system.asp (Whitch the read-me files informs you to do. I also had to go into each and every admin file and add the database location. If your chat doesn't work and you've used all these great suggestions, try that! Mine works great now.

I've fixed a lot of the bugs I listed above in the EasyChat and have it running a lot smoother. As long as I have permission from the original creator, I can give people a copy of my customized version.
FYI, I stripped out the Signup part and I'm in the process of Merging it with the Snitz DB.
Send a message to blonde@dragonriders.net for more info. Also if the Creator of EasyChat has any objections to me distributing the modified code, please send me a message and I can send it to you or for distribution.

I would like to see what you have done with Easychat ! Please mail me the code to wii@onebox.com and I will update my testchat.
I haven´t spent so much time looking into this, since I found a much better PERL chat that really is by far the best I´ve tried so far !

wii-I have tried your chat two times, no matter what I type or click on (smilies) nothing shows in the chat window(MEANING NONE OF THE TEXT SHOWS UP). And Scroll down was clicked, and I unchecked it, nothing....F.Y.I.

I have had some users with problems, specially through firewalls - please try again, and click "Safe mode". |

Worked like a charm wii! I like it. Was it difficult to implement, as compared to EasyChat> And Do I have to ask my servers owner to do anything?? thanks

Well, since the Perl chat does not on Windows server, only Unix, most of the files have to be set with the correct permissions, which is a pain, but when everything is running, it´s the best chat script I´ve tried.
