Hello, I tried to find FAQ with the problem, but I could not. Hence:
Most of the times (!), after I login (any account), it takes me back to the previous page (as normal), but without being logged in (at the top you see the same as if you are not logged in.., and you do not have the access priviledges either)!! I think I am running the latest version (3.3_03). The forum is still being prepared but you can find it at http://www25.brinkster.com/TLQLx Any ideas? (I tried that from many PC's but still the same!) (I allow cookies!)

You're right.. I just registered and it won't let me log on. I think that's an inc_top.asp problem since that's where the logging on/out really happens... Have you tried using a clean inc_top.asp?

Yep,I uploaded again the file from the un-zipping directory, then tried a few times but... no luck! What could it be?

No idea... it might be a cookie related thing but I don't know which file handles the cookies. I think it's inc_functions.asp but I'm not sure. The thing that makes it weirdest is that no errors are shown even though something is evidently not working.
Sorry I can't help you with this.

It seems that there is no answer! Does anyone know where to address this question? (Is there another forum of 'unanswered' questions or 'strange' happenings?) At this stage, any help is well appreciated ! (Thanks to FrutZle for trying.. )

Hi again,

The main editing was to replace the word Category with the word Room (only when visible) (I know it looks a lot, but it is trivial and repeating. I chose to be exhaustive since I could not understand how this problem could be happening!)
I have edited the following files in the following ways:
-------Script Timeout ----------------- admin_count.asp : Line 74 : Script Timeout from 6000 to 90 admin_count_copy(1).asp : Line 59 : Script Timeout from 6000 to 90 admin_forums.asp : Line 506 : Script Timeout from 10000 to 90 (you can tell it's hosted at Brinkster! ) ----------- File : Config.asp ------------------- Line 48 : Uncommented strDBType = "access" Line 57 : Uncommented strConnString for Access2k for Brinkster ------------ File : Default.asp ----------------- Line 44 : Added 6 lines for the counter of Analog Stats (1 script line call, invisible) line 148 : Change the title from "Forum" to "Rooms & Forums" line 270 : Replace "Expand this Category" with "Expand this Rooms" line 272 : Replace "Collapse this Category" with "Collapse this Rooms" line 419 : Replace "Create New Category" with "Create New Room" line 454 : Replace alt=""Category Locked"" with alt=""Room Locked"" line 461 : Replace alt=""Category Locked"" with alt=""Room Locked"" line 471 : Replace alt=""Lock Category"" with alt=""Lock Room"" line 473 : Replace alt=""Un-Lock Category"" with alt=""Un-Lock Room"" line 476 : Replace alt=""Edit Category Name"" with alt=""Edit Room Name"" line 478 : Replace alt=""Delete Category"" with alt=""Delete Room"" line 502 : Replace alt=""Archive All Forums in Category"" with alt=""Archive All Forums in Room"" line 507 : Replace alt='Approve/Hold/Reject all Unmoderated Posts in this Category' with alt='Approve/Hold/Reject all Unmoderated Posts in this Room' line 529 : Replace alt=""Un-Lock Category"" with alt=""Un-Lock Room""
P.S.: quote:
FrutZle: It's here http://www25.brinkster.com/tlqlx/Rooms/default.asp a little weird to hide it under the name "rooms" though.
I know... But it seemed a nice idea at the time... The idea is to put a hint (alt) that contains the word forums...

I think I have an idea of what might cause this... I have a site online and a one local. They both have the same name. I am suspecting that after you login at the first one, you cannot login at the second one! The strange thing is that these symptoms occur most of the times but not always, and even streangier... why was it then that FrutZle could not register either? (That IS strange!)
Anyway, I am not 100% sure if the above is true but so far it seems that it is.

I have my forums online and on my computer, both 99.9% the same. No problems whatsoever with logging on or out. Perhaps you have a URL linking to a local file instead of to a file on the server? |

I had the same problem Aristotelis. HAD being the operative word.
The problem is with the URL you are using. The cookie is CaP sEnSiTiVe.
The cookie is saved as:www25.brinkster.com/tlqlx/rooms/
however your link is: www25.brinkster.com/TLQLX/Rooms/
Whenever someone tries to login in it is looking for the cookie like the second link but the cookie is saved to the system like the first link. Click the link below and try to login. It should work perfectly fine.
