Hi,

I am trying to use snitz for a forum with an Oracle 8 database (I am developing on Oracle 8i Personal-Edition) but I do not succeed to add texts with more than 4000 characters, I have nearly tried everyting, also using different datatypes ...

Thanks for your ideas in advance

Hey Ghecco,

You may want to view some of the prior posts in this forum. You really need to use a CLOB datatype. I think you can store up to 4gb of text in a CLOB.

We almost had a version working using CLOBS but there was an issue doing a case insensative search on a CLOB cloumn. Since CLOBS are really stored as binary data... you have to stream the data in and then perform the search... kind of an expensive task.

Anyway... I guess we are waiting for Oracle to figure out how perform case insensative searches on their CLOB columns. When they give us a way to do that then SNITZ will work across Oracle.
