You might have noticed that there now is a search box on the default and forum pages. Please use it to search the forums before posting a support question. The Search page has been improved but has one small problem: it doesn't "find" topics without a reply. The ones that have a reply get found much better than before.
The limitation that you have to select a category was added to stop the search for archived topics from timing out.
It is a work in progress, once it is stable enough I'll release it as MOD.

Yeah thats the first thing I noticed and wanted to start a thread to thank you for putting it. Lots of times I remember when I was new, I used to start help topics where as that topic had been discussed earlier too.
Good Job and Thank you

Gor,
Did you release the Mod yet or haven't you had a chance?
Cheers.

No release yet, didn't have time to tweak it with the release of version 3.33 Still show some topics more than once.

It looks like the search works ok now. Biggest "problem" was to decide how it had to retrieve the "best" topics. Partly because of the limitations in Sql Server I went for the "best position in text" approach. This means that when a keyword is found "earlier" in the text, that is seen as being better. I also limited the search in the messages itself to the first 100 characters. For smaller sites that could be more, but with a lot of topics, small is better.
Feel free to search a lot. I think that it helps finding topics, when helping new users or for yourself.
Let me know if you find the topics you were looking for
Kat, I'll leave it out here for a week or so and then release it as a MOD (Sql Server search only).

That is brilliant Gor. We are just in the process of incorporating our main site search with the forums so this will be great!
