I have created several forum topics and specified "mebers only & password protected". But this isn't working. All members are allowed to go into the topic and see all posts. If they try to post themselves they see a message stating that they aren't allow to. Where is the opportunity to enter this "Password"? Please help.

Still not working right. Now the unauthorized user IS allowed to post thier message as well as get into the forum.
I made those changes to the inc_functions.asp and I'm using the latest version. What should I do now?

Really? I tested it and it worked ok.
How can the unauthourized user post a message, unless they knew the password to enter that forum? If they past that check, then anyone can post a message. If they are unregistered, they will have to provide a valid username and password at the post.asp screen. If they are members, they can post ok.
Remember, if you were testing it yourself, when you first entered the password to the forum, it won't ask you again, because it stores some info in your cookie that tells it if you entered the password for that forum before.

That's just it. I'm not ever prompted to enter the "password". Where is it. When is it supposed to come up?
On a password protected forum, when a user (member or not) clicks on the topic are they supposed to be promted for a password? That is the impression I got. But I'm not seeing this password, ever.
Check it out, try the forum at the top. http://www.citrixtrainer.com/forum/
Regarding the cookies, I'll do a search and delete them. Thanks for your assistance.

I think I see what you mean. When I chose "members only & password protected" I assumed that A. You had to be a member B. You had to have yet another password. Is this not true?

"Password Protected Forums" protect the forum, not the topic. So it asks for the password when you click on the forum. You can't password protect individual topics.quote: Check it out, try the forum at the top. http://www.citrixtrainer.com/forum/
I was asked for a password when I tried to enter that forum. If the user is a member, then it won't ask for a password. Members are allowed access. If not a member, then ask them for the password.

Nope. If you're a member, you are allowed access, if not, you need the password.

Yes I was getting my terminology mixed up there.
So what you are saying is, if the user has registered for the forums then they can post in any forum unless I restrict a forum to a list of individuals or hide that forum. The password protect option only effects individuals that have not registered yet. Correct?

not exactly. we were talking about the "Members Only & Password Protected" option, which gives only members access to the forums, non-members have to provide a password.
If you set it to "Password Protected" everyone will have to provide the password to enter the forum, members and non-members.
