I am upgrading to 3.3 however my current forum has been modified from the "out of the box " version. Do I have to install ALL the files for the 3.3 version?

Yes, it would be better if you did. There have been a lot of code changes.
One downfall of a major upgrading is that you will have to re-install all the mods over again.
