I've created a MOD that allows a forum to have as many ranks as they want. The stars are seperate on themselves, so they'll appear after as many posts as you set them. The ranks have no effect on them. The admin ranking configuration has been alerted, you can now review all titles in effect and edit them as you wish as well as add more. It's very easy to install, instructions are in the readme file.
NOTE: Currently there is no code for getting rid of existing ranks, but an admin can simply edit any of them, so it shouldn't be a problem. Additionally, you can't change the default title for admins and mods, they are set to just that 'Administrator' and 'Moderator', custom titles are the only way around this (which is quite enough :)). And as a last note you cannot set a rank higher than 999999 posts, but that well again shouldn't be a problem. :)
2nd NOTE: This was designed for 3.3 Final, and I'm not sure that it'll work in earlier releases. No guarantees are given.
Here's the file: http://24.114.21.157/board/ranks mod/ranksmod.zip

Works now, I had been setting permissions to different directories by mistake, that one got caught in the crossfire. :)

bjlt,
The only changes I had to make was replacing the call to the sub WriteFooter with the <!--#include file="inc_footer.asp"-->
That was it.

i had installed this a couple weeks ago and had to remove it because when i added the amount of 12000 it kept giving errors.
I thinkt he amount was 12000 posts.
I had about 10-20 addditional ranks added... that should help some others test the errors I got. (not looking for help) just something for you to play with and see if it happens to you too

The inc_functions.asp included doesn't have the SetConfigValue() function of 3.3 in it, you may want to update it. It breaks posting changes to Forum values (colours, etc) from the Admin screens.
