No documentation, but I can explain it to you:
First:
An Administrator can set all of the locks and can post to any locked topic in any forum/category.
A Moderator of a forum can set a Topic-lock on topics in his/her forum(s) and can post to any locked topic in his/her forum.
Topic-lock
1) normal users can't reply to that topic anymore.
Can be set by Moderator of a forum and the Admin.
Forum-lock
1) normal users can't reply to topic in that forum.
2) normal users can't create new topics in that forum.
Can only be set by a Admin
All new posted topics in that forum will automatically display as being locked.
Category-lock
1) normal users can't reply to topic in any of the forums in that category
2) normal users can't create new topics in any of the forums in that category
Can only be set by a Admin
All new posted topics in any of the forums in that category and all new created forums in that category will automatically display as being locked.
