hey i also got this email .. here is what yahoo says about it
"Experts: File-Deleting Sircam Email Virus Spreading LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A new e-mail virus that can delete files from infected computer hard drives has spread to users in more than 50 countries in the past week, a security expert said on Friday.
The virus, nicknamed W32.Sircam, arrives as an email attachment and can affect any type of email program, said Mark Sunner, chief technology officer of UK-based MessageLabs, a provider of virus filtering services to corporations.
The virus, a self-propagating worm that has English and Spanish-language versions, sends copies of itself and a random file from the infected computer's hard drive to all addresses in the infected computer's address book, security experts said.
In some but not all instances, Sircam deletes files and directories and can fill up the hard drive, according to the experts.
The worm was discovered on Monday and is spreading so quickly that Symantec Corp. (NasdaqNM:SYMC - news) has raised its rating of the worm's danger threat to a 4 out of a possible 5, said Steve Trilling, director of research at Symantec.
Trilling said his lab receives reports of five to 15 new viruses every day, although those include many viruses that have not been released into ``the wild,'' the industry term for those that have infected working computers.
There were more than 200 viruses reported to be in the wild in June, with 4 of those being new ones, according to a Web site that tracks statistics on computer viruses (http://www.wildlist.org).

I have been receiving this virus/worm e-mail 50 times a day since last week. In short:
The sender e-mail address will be the infected users. The topic will be, depending on the users e-mail program, a topic he has sent or received before pulled randomly from an e-mail. The body of the e-mail contains the text:
Hi! How are you? I send you this file in order to have your advice See you later. Thanks
The file attached is a random file from the users computer, with the viruse embeeded into the start of it, and a second random extention added to it to allow it to opened, like .bat, .exe, .pdf, etc.
When activated, it searches all local and network drives for e-mail address. It then uses it's OWN SMTP mail program and sends itself out continuly until it is removed.
The first day it broke out, I got 600 of these e-mails the 1st day, 800 the second. It's calmed down some, I get like 50 a day now. What really hurts is when a guy with a cable modem that stays connected 24/7 gets it, and your on his mailing list!

This virus appeared July 17th. You can get a removal tool which I know works at www.symantec.com/avcenter
This virus will propagate itself across a LAN.

a colleague didn't update his NAV virus definitions and got hit by this thing. it spread all across the network to everyones machine.
with its built in smtp agent i am telling you the thing is a b*tch.
it isn't too hard to remove though.
for the last week i have been receiving emails from people i have never heard of. in a couple of cases i recognised the email address as ones from websites i had visited earlier, it must of searched my temporary internet filez and posted to all the mailto's or something.
clever b*stards you would think they would do something more contructive with their time.
