The forum passwords I stored in cookies so that member should only have to enter it once anyway - or so I believe.
Then thereafter, as long as they are logged on as a member of the whole forum, they shouldn't need to re-enter the private forum password, unless it gets changed.

Is there a setting for this already or do I have to upload a Mod?

It is built in as part of the base product so no, you shouldn't need a MOD. Try it out yourself.
1. Register as a new user. 2. Logon as that user. 3. Go to a private forum. 4. Enter the password. 5. Exit the private forum. 6. Go back in again and you shouldn't need the password. 7. Change the password with your admin. 8. Log back in as your new user. 9. Go into the private forum again and you should be prompted for the new password.
This should show you how it works.

Nope. I closed the page completely, went back in and registered as Tester. Went into a private forum and entered the password. Entered the forum, made a post, exited and logged out.
Closed the page again, then went back to the forum, logged back in as Tester and tried to enter the private forum, I was challenged for the password again.
The cookies work as long as I don't log out. I was hoping there was a way that once I've entered the private forum, I won't have to re-enter the password again, ever. Even if I logout.

I think that when you logout, the cookie gets deleted and that would mean the password gets removed too. I don't know if there is an easy way around this. When you log out, you are effectively saying 'Please don't remember me anymore' and then it is valid for it to remove the cookie.
