But I can't figure it out!
When you post a new message using V3.1, you get the drop down box of "Mode", you've got "Basic", "Prompt", and "Help"
What in the world does this do? I can't tell if it changes anything! It's one of those things that's keeping me up at night! <img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>

All the mode does is affect how the formatting buttons work. Here is how they work:
<i>Basic:</i> adds the tag and you need to put the text between it. <i>Prompt:</i> Opens a javascript box for you to put your text in. <i>Help:</i> Displays a message on what the button does when pressed.
I agree that it's confusing where it is currently. Mike, is there anyway we can move the mode line up with the buttons to make it more obvious what it is for?? It doesn't make any sense to have it where it is now. It would be much better being up in the format section.

I was thinking of puting it on the left under "Format:"

Maybe place a <img src="http://forum.snitz.com/forum/icon_smile_question.gif" border=0> next the the dropdown box and have a help file explaining what each mode does?
Here is a <b>pop_help.asp</b> file and a modified <b>post.asp</b> with a <img src="http://forum.snitz.com/forum/icon_smile_question.gif" border=0> next to the mode drop down box so the user can click on it to find out what it does.

hmmm... how about puting it up beside "Screensize"... that would keep it near the buttons, but not take up a whole line for the buttons.

yup... that is what I was thinking, but I think I'm going to swap the screen resolution and the mode...
and then right align the screen resolution thing... that way the "MODE" realy makes more logical sence

Horrified.
That's what I get for writing hasty messages at work.
I can't BELIEVE I put this in the DEV Design Requests W/Code area!
I could have sworn I put it elsewhere!
This is Sabre... This is Sabre down on his hands and knees, begging forgiveness from the Snitz Gods...
This was meant to go in the general FAQ section, I swear!

I believe that this topic was moved here after we started discussing making a design change. |

hehe... no problem sabre... If you look at your post at the top... you'll see "Edited by admin on 10/12/2000"
that should be "Moved" caus that is what I did... caus this has turned into a design request... but I can move it over to the "FAQ request" if you like (after we're done discussing this feature that is)

And here I was, making amends... <chuckle>
While you're at it, let's see a revision of the order-boards mod for V3.1... or, even better, intergration straight into the release!
(Can you tell I'm hung up on that? This said in my best "petty tyrant" voice =)

How about adding a very simple change, rename the description from <b>Mode</b> to <b>Button Mode</b>
- <font color=red>*</font id=red><font color=blue>Interested in <b>Radio Control</b> </font id=blue><font color=red>-</font id=red> http://www.rcwebboard.com/<font color=red>*</font id=red> |
