Well, it looked like these forums on this site were fixed... but, they appear broken still...
Simply go into a forum... hit the refresh button on the browser... you'll see HTML text in the upper left corner and you'll see a different list of topics.

It's not the forum, it's the server, or something between this server and your computer.
I get the same problem at home on 2 different computers, but at work (where I am now), I don't see this problem.
This is NOT A BUG. Please quit posting about this problem in the Bug Reports forum. This forum is only for posting bugs with the actual code.
Thanks! |

well, to me and others it looks like a bug. I don't get this at all on the 5 installations that I've done. I don't get this on any of the other sites that have this installed... this Snitz site is the ONLY installation I see this problem occur.
Also, I would like to point out that it didn't happen before 2 weeks ago... this is something new. So, there must be something wrong somewhere. Maybe it's not a bug in the forums itself. Either way, I wanted to bring it to attention.
BTW, what other forum should I post this type of thing in? Out of the 20+ forums (heh), this seemed the most logical choice because I have no idea what's causing it and it appears to be a problem with the forums.
*sigh*

ok... so a community announcement? heh.
Either way... please don't discard this problem. Because if it's not addressed and fixed, then these snitz forums are worthless for me to come and get and post information.

Help: General would probably be the best place to post it.
There is also another thread that is already discussing this problem:
http://forum.snitz.com/forum/link.asp?TOPIC_ID=12096
We are aware of the problem, it is annoying to us also. Our average daily post count has dropped to about half of what it normally is since this problem popped up.
Thanks! |

actually, I did a view source on an offending page. The HTML is lost at the top. Meaning there is no <HTML> or <BODY> beginning tags. Also, the banner is gone as well. So, maybe look somewhere there....there could be an error occuring but because you guys put On Error Resume Next, you'll never catch it. [:\]
btw, "On Error Resume Next" and no option explicit are not advisable to use... they promote bad coding and undetectable errors.

Nothing has changed in the code used on this site for quite some time now. Definitely not in the last week or so when this problem started occuring. |

Hmmm...I am seeing things okay so far. Could it be a misbehaving ad banner somehow?

Funny, I am not getting this problem or I am not seeing it. To me, everything looks fine. Hmm..

Perhaps the problem is specific to certain configurations. Mine is:
Windows 2000 Professional SP1 IE 5.00.2920 128 bit using LAN connection Temporary Internet Files set to reload Automatically A different W2K box running Internet Connection Sharing to my dialup provider (long established local provider using Sun/Unix servers). A few other misc. computers on my local network

It was server side and has been fixed....Why some were not experiencing this I don't know, but it's been fixed.
Thanks Tim!

Welcome back!
No more problem, the caching problem continued for me for a short while after everyone else seemed to be working, but I haven't seen a problem since the day after my last post.
I guess my computer is just slow to catch on to some things :)
