I also notice you are using the alpha version. Also what database type are you using?

The file you sent me, the default.asp file, is the default.asp file from the alpha version. Yet you are running version 3.1 SR4 on your site. Could you please use the default.asp file from the SR4 version? Let me know when you have done that.
And this is a clean install of the forums right? You extracted all the files to a forum folder, uploaded the database .mdb file, changed the code in the config.asp file and got everything working?
You see, the only difference between how the image link and the text link is being constructed in the asp file, is that the image link is all on one line, while the text link is broken after the <a href=""" and then finished constructed on another line.
Don't how that would cause the url to end up like that.

It was a clean install after not getting SR4 working. I decided to use the alpha version in hope of fixing it. The one you saw on my site was the alpha version. I just tried replacing the default.asp with the one from SR4. Then I tried creating another forum. Same prob. |

Ok. Then what was the probalem you were having with the SR4 version? Since I see you only have 6 posts to your name, I can conclude that you didn't ask for help for the problems you had with the SR4 version?
This is what I'm gonna recommend to you. Go back to installing a clean install of the SR4 version. Don't use the alpha version. Use the database .mdb file that comes in the SR4 zip too. And if you have any problems in setting up the SR4 version, post it here and we'll help you. And when setting up the forum, don't delete the default test Forum that is created there. Let it stay.
Did you overwrite the SR4 version files with the alpha files? Or do you have the SR4 files in another folder? You can probably delete just the asp files and leave .gif image files so you don't have to upload all of them again.
Right now, I don't have a clue why the forum is behaving that way. And I have spent hours looking over the code. The last thing I would think of doing is to look at your database to see where "../../../../Documents%20and%20Settings/Administrator/Desktop/Snitz_Forums_2000_V3_1_SR4" is coming from.

hey....for some reason, it works... I have no clue. I just checked up on it today, and it worked. Also, i had clean installs before, so it couldn't have been problems from mixing versions, because i completely deleted everything and reextracted.

I wouldn't recommend mixing versions. There are a lot of code changes between versions.
But I'm glad it's finally working for you.
