This is weird. I have the following setting in a Snitz forum:

quote:
Restrict Moderators to
moving their own topics: OFF

Which to ME means that a moderator should be able to go into any forum and move (and edit, presumably) a topic.

But they can't. This setting seems to have NO effect at all!

Can someone lend some clarity, please?

Cheers,
Bri

Do you have them specified as a mod in each forum/catagory? You must do this forum by forum.

setting up every moderator for every forum, totally negates the purpose of having the switch ..

if the switch is set to OFF then they should be able to move a post regardless of what area of the forum they are a moderator of.

I would also like to know if this setting is actually coded to work or is it broke until the next version kind of thing

Well, Outback's answer makes sense to me... so is it not working or have I set something wrong?

I'm not adding 8 moderators to 15 forums each - that's just stupid. What's the bloody switch for????

I agree, I don't think that option does anything to the forum. The only place I see it used in the code is line 614 of post.asp. Just do a search for "strMoveTopicMode", but that doesn't seem to do much.

Wait, so does this mean I actually *do* have to add eight moderators to fifteen forums each?!?!

But, but, but... it's UGLY when you do that! whine

Like I said, yes you do have to add them one by one to all the forums. Turn off view moderators in forum configuration so your members don't have to look at the long list and add their names to the description field if you want your members to know who the Mod's are.

Use this MOD to speed up adding and managing your Moderators:
