I just want to ask if somebody experiend the same as I did:
Wheile I was was working with portal mod I suddently got an
error message - and the forum was no longer availeble. First
I thought that it had something to do with my work on the
mod, so I changed the settings back, but that didnīt help. So
I decided to go backwards and then removed the fileattat.mod
that I had installed just before - still no forum availible.
I tyed to do a setup.asp but was told that my database needed
to be upgraded, so I tryed that - but I could not login with
my password. I tryed then to let my config.asp point to another
database (the default that comes with the forum download), but
I was still told to upgrade my database. And I didīnt knew
what I had to do in pactice.
Finally I decided to upload a backup that I had from a few
days earlier, that schould do it. But still nothing happend.
After hours of trying all kind of things I decided to look in
my config.asp to check the string to the database. I use a
physical path to an acces2000 db. - and that had been working
execellent. Now I tryed to change it into a virtual path - and
voila! the Forum went up again - but of course I waisted hours
of work to find the error, not to mention that I had to install
serval mods once again.
I only have one advice to people that are lost:
check your database connection (config.sys) before you do anything radical with your files. Moving a tiny little: ' one line down did
it for me.
Anybody here that can explain why the string suddently changed
from physical to virtual ?
