Is it possible to add code that woud read cookies stored in one's cache even though a user may be signed in under a different name? I'm having a problem with users posting under different names and some have gotten sharp enough to use different ISP or simply sign off and sign on the change the IP address. Possible a mod that will show all user cookies stored even though they are not logged in. Maybe this could be viewed in the active users page for admins only.

problem is that the cookie only holds the currently loged in username, not past usernames

If they're using different usernames and different IP addresses, then they're probably smart enough to empty the temporary internet files fold which holds the cookies.

It was a thought and doesn't hurt to ask. It just makes moderating very difficult sometimes. Thanks for the input guys. Any tips or tricks on how to moderate better would be appreciated.

When you want to ban someone, just lock the member. Then be sure you have the "unique email" as a requirement. that way they'll have to get a new email everytime.

Bah, if the people are doing something bad enough to be banned, Warn them first and if that doesn't work Take their IP find out who the ISP is (http://www.geektools.com/cgi-bin/proxy.cgi) and the contact information to the ISP email them a letter stating their abusing your service they were using IP: ???.???.???.??? at so and so a time etc.

That'll shut them up. Get them a warning from their ISP anyway

I haven't ran into anyone yet that actually needs a ban though.
