I have a need for a cleaner way to do things. Here is what I have done with my implementation of Snitz.

For members.asp and pop_profile.asp I use ASP Protect to password protect these pages. If you click on any link in the forum that calls these pages, you are prompted for a username and password. This is verified through the ASP Protect scripts and databases. If you have administrator access, then the information is displayed.

Obviously this blocks out a bunch of cool features in Snitz, and kind of a messy way. But it works.

One drawback is a user cannot modify their profile because pop-profile.asp is password protected. To allow users access, would allow them to see other peoples, which defeats the purpous because most people want to hide their email addresses from the general public.

What I would like to see is a MOD, and there may already be one I have not found, that allows a user to decide to show or hide their profile. Optimally two check boxes, one to hide email address and one to hide the profile. If they choose to hide email, then the profile would show up with no email address. If they chose to hide their profile, then nothing would show up.

If they choose to hide it, if another member clicked on the icon Show Profile or Reply By Email they would not be able to get the information and be returned a messaging stating the member has chose to hide their profile or email.

Any help would be great. As I have ZERO programming ability.

This has ways to do it, so the user is prompted to be logged on to view member details. I hope this is what you are looking for. There is also a mod about hiding e-mails at;

This is a simple mod to add to give the user the permission to hide their e-mail address from anyone, except the administrator.

That's not waht I want. I want to users to be able to hide their profile and/or email from member that are logged in too.

This one might do the trick on the email. If I can hide the email, That I think will be plenty sufficient. They can always elect to not fill in profile information.
