Two days ago I moved our forum to a new server. It worked fine for two days, and suddenly we can't access the site or read or respond to posts. There are error messages such as: Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'
Cannot open database ''. It may not be a database that your application recognizes, or the file may be corrupt.
/forum/forumz/inc_functions.asp, line 1760
and
Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005' > Cannot open database ''. It may not be a database that your application recognizes, or the file may be corrupt.
/forum/forumz/inc_top.asp, line 42
Any ideas on what I can do to fix this? Thanks!

Have you got the right Connection string in there? Which connection string are you using? If you are using 97 try 2000 and vice versa. If this doesn't work, try downloading the database and repairing it.

I have no idea what you're talking about. Can you be more specific, and tell me exactly what I'm looking for, and exactly what I need to change? I also wouldn't know what to look for in the database to repair.
Also, I tried viewing the database and it's only squares and symbols.

The error you're seeing is often a server-related problem. How did you manage to view the database if you can't connect to it?
If a local copy shows garbage, the db file is probably hosed.

I viewed the database by clicking on *view* in the FTP program. My computer opened the file in WordPad, and it was just all symbols.
I keep getting this error message on and off today as well. However, at other times the forum works well. If you believe it's a server-related problem, I'm contact them.
Thank you.

You'll need Microsoft Access to open the database file. |
