I would like to make a suggestion for a possible add-on. As an administrator, one feature I would love to see is the ability to backup my forum through the admin options and generate a zip file to a specified location. I know asp has some advanced features, but I have no clue if this is possible.

Let me know if there is anything like that already, else, the suggestion's on the table for anyone to build on.

Hey ENiGMA,
Only thing you need to backup everyday is your database.
Why don't you just save the database in your computer and then keep repeating this process everyday. Because there are no use of backing up all the files...

actually this is a good idea. one problem is that the directory would have to have read/write/delete access to it. Then what could happen was since not everyone can copy their database (sql server) it would make a re_setup.asp file that would reinstall all data into the forum. Just another idea for this. Only problem is with large forums it would run into timeouts maybe when running the re_setup.asp file.

Thank you. Both are logical views. Perhaps my best bet would to continue the current route of bi-weekly backup through the ftp.
The idea was more because of my consistant interest of adding features and fear of corrupt/failed install.

i still think this is something that should be insterted into the admin section. It would be great if someone could come up with a generic script that will backup and re-install and entire database. This was its not just snitz related but will backupthe whole site. This was current and future mod's that have to have a table in the db, will always be added. I will think about this and see if I can come up with something, but it will be a couple weeks till I will be able to get to it. So if anyone has any suggestions or ideas please share, or if someone would like to write this feel free 2.

this would also have to use the FSO ( I believe ) and not everyone has full use of the FSO which could definately cause problems.
