This was originally posted on the mail forun but I did not get any response so I am trying it here.

Is it possible to use Unix sendmail with a forum.

My host says that this is the mail component that is installed on the server.

If this can be used then how do I do it?

If you're on a Unix server you must be using ChiliSoft. There should be some help on their site about using email from asp pages.

afaik, sendmail is basically a 'command line' program and I don't think you can directly call it from an asp page.

In a MS server there are many different email ActiveX components that may be installed. MS offers CDO and CDONTS, there is ASPMail, JMail and many others from third party companies.

I guess this all means I have no answer about using sendmail :)
