Hi!
I have installed the forum and all is working fine, other than the emails received by Moderators and subscribers contain an incorrect URL link back to the forum. The received URL is:
http://WEBSITE/topic.asp?whichpage=-1&TOPIC_ID=4
but the actual one for the first page is:
http://WEBSITE/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4
and for a 2 page forum is:
http://WEBSITE/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4&whichpage=2

I tried searching the forum but this always times out for me and a manual search came up with nothing. is this a known problem? It looks like there should be an easy fix but I can't find the appropriate asp page. Could someone point me in the right direction, please
Thanks, in advance
PS
I'm using the latest classic asp version

Cheers
Bill

That's not an incorrect URL. Have you tried it, actually? Guess you will fing it will work!

Hi! Thanks for the reply

Sorry, are you saying that:
http://WEBSITE/topic.asp?whichpage=-1&TOPIC_ID=4
(the URL received in the email)...is correct?
All I can tell you is that when I click this it merely takes me to the home page rather than the page which has address:
http://WEBSITE/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4

I don't understand why it gives me a constant "whichpage" value of "-1". Am I misunderstanding something?
Thanks again

Cheers
Bill

yes it is correct, http://WEBSITE/topic.asp?whichpage=-1&TOPIC_ID=4 should infact take you to the LAST page of replies for the topic (which is what it is supposed to do)

I have tested this a few times and clicking the URL merely sends me to the home page. For some reason its not recognising the "-1". Could I have missed a configuration parameter? Any ideas where I've gone wrong

PS
I tried a test by going to the 2 page topic:
http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=67666&whichpage=2
...and replaced the "2" at the end with a "-1"
It took me to the default.asp page, rather than the topic itself

Cheers
Bill

What database and connection string are you using (just interested in the type, not your details - server, password, username are of no interest and shouldn't be posted)?

if the same thing happens to you here, it is not a setting on your forum, it must relate to your browser

You are using your own server or a hosting solution? I seem to remember that some earlier versions of the OLEDB provider caused something similar to that.

he says the same thing is happening here, so it can't be anything to do with his forum at all, it must be browser related

HuwR:
IE v6.0.2900.5512.xpsp_sp3_gdr.090206-1234
...but you are right, it is a browser issue, as it works correctly with Firefox
As I am in an office environment, I can't get the browser easily changed for all potential users. I'd welcome any suggestions but if not, we'll have to live with until we upgrade
Thanks, both, for your help

Cheers

Must be IE & then. Weird that this should depend on browser versions.

Unless you're being held technologically hostage by vendors who have contracts you can't easily cancel...
