Integrated Chat Room
13 November 2015, 16:27

Has anyone any suggestions for an integrated chat room to use with Snitz?
I'm currently using: 'ZBit Chat 2.3 Build 016' which up to Internet Explorer 11 worked reasonably well, it still works ok with Chrome and Firefox but won't load in IE

The developers are no longer available so unless it can be updated to work it looks like a change is in order

Thanks smile

I cannot find a source for that version on the web. Send me a copy or a link to it and I'll try and change it for you.

Odd, I'll check the mail server logs see if I can see any issues.

It seems that msn thinks my mail server is on a blacklist, however I have no idea what blacklist it things I'm in as I have checked and can not find it listed anywhere ?????

I tested them also, didn't find any list with Snitz on it. Check this site, HuwR: https://www.rackaid.com/blog/hotmail-blacklist-removal/
Also, here's Microsoft's own URL to get it fixed: WhiteList

Dear Huw Reddick
We have completed reviewing the IP(s) you submitted. The following table contains the results of our investigation.

More information needed
37.220.100.58
We were unable to identify anything on our side that would prevent your mail from reaching Outlook.com customers.
So why is it in your bloody blacklist then ???????

Huw, we're having the same problem with Microsoft email users and it is down to MS's filters for their Office365 software.

It is a complete joke trying to get an IP address removed from their filter, only they have access to it, I spent nearly 2 hours on the phone speaking to everyone in India trying to resolve it to no avail, and don't email them in response to any emails they send you as they will not receive it because their support uses the same filter dissapprove

LOL. I usually get better results from them, probably because I helped so many of their programmers and tech people over the last 30 years. Even taught a few courses for them when I was in Cleveland 10-15 years ago.

Seems to me that they didn't even check anything, even though the logs I provided distinctly showed their server rejecting the email as the ip address was blacklisted, so how they can say there is no error at their end astounds me.

Ive had this reply from Microsoft:

This IP is not eligible for mitigation at this time. Establishing and maintaining good sending reputation is an ongoing process, not a one-time fix. It takes time to improve IP reputation and careful vigilance in monitoring your email systems to maintain it. Here are some additional security measures for you to consider which may help you detect and address compromises to your mail systems or abnormal sending behavior more quickly and therefore reduce the likelihood of your mail traffic being negatively:

<edited to remove blurb>

Basically what they are saying is that as the IP address is new'ish as the server was brand new out of a box and assigned the IP address, until it's been around long enough to gain a reputation above and beyond their requirements we can't successfully email their Office365 users

So basically, everyone is a spammer unless you can prove otherwise bigsmile

Oh, and all our outgoing email is using SMTP Authentication
Webbo
17 November 2015, 08:01

That appears to be the case Huw, or is it more sinister - you can send email if you subscribe to their Office365 service wink

Ok, I have registered for their 'Smart Network Data service' to see if I can monitor emails to their servers from mine, so maybe that will help, who knows.

well, ain't that odd considering I have done bugger all bigsmile and they said it wasn't a problem ????? hmmmm

Well, I guess submitting the form got someone over there to actually check. It's like internet providers whose help desks claim there's no problem ... but magically, when they "check" the modem remotely, the issue is resolved.

Likewise I'm enrolled in their SNDS so we'll see what happens.
It's a bu66er though when you have to jump through hoops to try to send someone an email because someone else decrees you're not worthy. It'll be easier to bring back the fax machine or stick a stamp on it before long bigsmile

Unless your postal workers act like those in the USA.... There's a reason they call insane behavior "going postal". Fax machine may be the safer, albeit more expensive, method.

Oooh the irony.... a confirmation email re my enrolment into Microsoft's SNDS ended up in my Junk Mail folder bigsmile

Once MS sent me a message about a new spam filter ... and their spam filter sent it right to the junk. LOL Appropriatequestion

Well after a lot of hassle and fuss I finally got the following email from Microsoft in response to a lengthy one I sent including a message from our hosts confirming no spam was being sent from the server...
Hello,

We have received response from Antispam team and they resolved your issue.

Thank you again for contacting Microsoft Online Services technical support and giving us the opportunity to serve you.

Sincerely,

AOL was worse, especially for the forgetful seniors. My elderly customers would call and cancel their AOL subscriptions, but AOL would continue billing them, often for years. The old people would consider the cost of hiring a lawyer to intercede would be more than they were losing to AOL, and just let it go. I know at least 50 of my elderly customers near Cleveland OH * appx 25 USD per month ... now multiply that times the hundreds of thousands that AOL probably bilked each year, and it adds up to a vast amount of money.

I suppresses the function of chat rooms. Because my host after several request has not created the virtual memory necessary for operation of the chat.
Carefree
28 November 2015, 13:16

Doesn't require virtual "memory" but a virtual "directory". Maybe your host does not understand what is needed.

I will try to repeat to him what I want. Carfree thank you, Merry Christmas
