Snitz on your mobile
04 July 2015, 10:58

This forum now has a Bootstrap mobile friendly interface, it is not yet ready for release but am hoping it will see the light of day before the end of the summer.
Anyway as a teaser, I have uploaded a read only version here. If you want to have a peek, you can find it at http://forum.snitz.com/mvc
It is very much a work in progress, but would welcome any feedback on what is there so far.
Any requests for features will be ignored and removed , currently we are just trying to emulate an out of the box Snitz installation, so the code can be pointed at any existing Snitz site.

added some more twiddles, I think the 'read only' version is almost ready to go. I still need to do more testing on the posting functions and on registration.

I have now added a redirect here, so should you access this forum on a mobile device you should get redirected to the http://forum.snitz.com/mvc site. If this does not happen could you let me know what device you are using.
Posting using the mvc version should be working in the next few days, there are still a few issues with parsing bbcode, but I am ironing those out slowly.

HuwR, it did not redirect on my iPhone 5 running iOS 8.4. If I enter the URL to the mobile site, it displays fine - but entering the desktop URL (http://forum.snitz.com) left it at the desktop site. No redirect.

He meant if you accessed http://forum.snitz.com/forum/ it will redirect to the mobile version.
The redirect worked for me on my Lumia 1020 phone with Windows Phone 8.1.

made some changes to the forumcode processing so that should now all be displaying correctly. Only difference is that url's not between [url] tags will not be turned into links at the moment.

Davio is correct, only the forum is being redirected, not the whole site

site updated. minor tweaks to css and standardising look of lists across pages.
Posting is now also enabled on the mvc site, however, for now I would appreciate it if you could only post in the test forum if posting via the mvc version.

site updated with latest code, added some minor tweaks to forumcode parsing, hopefully when displayed using the mvc site, all outdated & non supported html (like font tags etc) should not be present in the rendered pages. It does affect performance slightly as messages get parsed twice when being displayed, I don't think the impact is too great and is worth it to get cleaner html.

submitted a random topic page to the w3c validators. Well impressed, I don't think I have ever managed a complete pass on both before, especially from a Snitz forum topic page bigsmile

I am hoping to release first version fairly soon, it will only work as an add on to an existing Snitz Forum as there is no admin pages as yet, that will come later. Pretty chuffed with what I have managed in a month

I will get some setup instructions for it later today (it doesn't require much config) but you will require a server that supports .Net 4.5.1

OK. I wondering about the set up. Whew! I thought I had to fiddle with it. LOL!

Config is pretty simple, you just need to set a handful of values in the config file and upload to a new app folder in your website. Had to fix the posting code so the two versions worked together so got delayed sorting out the instructions, if I get time today I will sort them, but have a wedding to go to later so it may not be until sunday.
