Norton vs McAfee
10 February 2009, 12:58

Has anyone notice any performance impact for your web site between these 2 major anti-virus sw installed?
Am curious as I think I am experiencing a bette performance in downloading web pages with McAfee, esp. with IE8, which I just installed after removing Norton Internet Security. (It's free for me with my ISP)

Are you talking about installing it on the server or on your home pc ?
I would recommend f-secure for a server (cheap licences) and Panda AV for a home pc.<

Primarily on my PC - which is XP Pro and have IIS5.1 and also has SQL Server 2005. Looked at both f-secure and Panda AV... good recommendation, thanks. I get McAfee free so I will be ok with it. (Actually, to think about it, it may not be totally "free" though offered as at no cost. Hidden costs are probably bundled into a monthly internet service fee... nothing is really free.wink)

Sorry Doug, I guess I don't speak this language. What does it mean?

nod 32 is another AV product, Taku.
I'm currently using VIPRE. Very small footprint, good price for unlimited home installs, good reviews.<
