Sharing spamming domains for the Spam Server addon
11 May 2008, 04:55
Hi there, was thinking, could we arrange to share spamming domains which we are including in the Spam Server addon? Or would that not be possible, was just thinking that i've been adding mine one by one, and if everyone else is doing the same, we could have a list that people could bulk add?
Idea? or not?!<

Here a spammor that I had on my forum, I forgot to take his IP to block it with ipgate. this person uses a false address email, for that to turn the button on yes validating the email.

I believe you misunderstood Maxime's question, Anon. He wants to know how to incorporate the stopforumspam's database into user registration to prevent new spammers.<

They have an API, and I've been meaning to work out how to tap into it... I just haven't gotten that far yet. It doesn't look too hard to figure out if anyone wants to take the time. My only concern is that I don't think its enough/appropriate to just check the IP or an e-mail address, which would mean two calls to their service. But that's just me.<
Phil, hope you don't mind, but I am using your list to create an automatic "Your email server is banned ..." rejection notice for the register.asp - all I have remaining is to finish an admin page for adding the additional servers as more show up.<

some of those are perfectly valid domain names which you are banning purely because some unscrupulous person has spoofed a legitimate email domain, not because that actual domain is a proven spammer<
