I kind of created a mod during my spare time over the past few weeks. This one display news from a specific forum that I choose.
I know a few exist but I'm not sure of their functionality. There's a preview below and I package this up if anyone is interested.

FYI, you cannot post news in the news forum because moderation is turned on. Well you can post, but doesn't mean it will get approved.

Very nice job! This is EXACTLY what I've been looking for! So, is it possible that instead of the whole forum be news, just have one forum category be news? How difficult would this one be to implement? It would be very cool if you could package with instructions, I would appreciate this tons!<

search for the simple slash mod to have it like zuel posted, to have a forum or category for news you could try creating a category and or forum called "news"?<

Basically it is just another page that you just drop in your forum directory. Then you just specify which forum you want to pull from, thats it. You can also apply a link in your forum navigation to get to it.

Also, in the upload screen, warn the user that large files will take a long time to upload, and you might want to suggest that they resize the image to smaller size if they can.<

I'm guessing that is on my forum. That is either Mike or Prodeurs upload mod. My members know the limit, I'm working on my own upload mod so I can extend it vidoes and their own gallery.
Well here's the package, I quickly did it soooo let me know if something isn't right. http://www.twistingshadows.com/news.rar

Just download it, only two files. Readme.Html and News.asp. Just follow the instructions and you should be set.
Only two lines to change then drop the file in your forum and hopefully all is well.
Not tested on a SQL Server environment, but I ensure it should work.
