A New Forum from Scratch
01 October 2005, 22:40

I've setup two forums to date. I added MODs to the first forum by inserting code. With the second forum I setup, I used a "MOD ready" or "pre-Installed" version that had lot's of the MOD "bells and whistles" already installed. This saved lots of time and trouble since I have problems following directions.
Does anyone have suggestions on where I might go to download a "MOD Ready" forum since I am starting from scratch (on a new forum) once again.

Thanks!

That's a lot of hard work mate :(

I suggest you do 'really' from scratch. Since most of 'mod ready' stuff was not doing your needs. Best is adding bit by bit which I do currently about same with you.

For mods, I suggest you go for SnitzBitz and Archieves of here... <

Thanks for the suggestion. The forums I setup previously were for unrelated websites and I'm now setting up another website for a different audience. The "MOD Ready" version I found about three years ago was excellent and met my needs very well! It saved boatloads of time, trouble, and hair. I just can't remember where I got it from.
Thanks!

I hear you :)

I'm now so busy on making a "generic" all-in-one pack for 4 different forums that I'm in responsible of, one for gamers, other for computer freaks, third for IT proffessionals, 4th for computer newbies. Each has different kind of needs and I'm writing my own mods over it and publish some of them here. You can't put Birthdays to IT proffessionals visa versa.

Good luck on your search :)<

Roger

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not sure this is the answer because I don't need multi language suport and I didn't want members to have the ability to change the skin color at will. But I really like the translations, very cool.
I guess I'm still looking for a forum download that includes pre-installed MODs. Any help would be appreciated!

I think Image has has a non-international/US-english version as well, anyhow you decide yourself the language and if visitors can change skin (on my site :only Swedish and No). I think that there are other pre-modded Snits to but do not know where. Try Search.<

On Image Portal you can disable the skin selector and you can install only one language. You can turn on/off every mod installed, so you can buid your forum as you like.<

I don't have the links handy, but you could look for the ServerHacker's version. I think there was at least a third one floating around, but the name escapes me at the moment.<

There's also David's Portal mod available over at SnitzBitz. A search for "portal" in the Mod W/Code forum here should unearth the others as well.

I use SHN's forum and find it's perfect for what I'm looking for. www.shnforum.com/forum/sitenews.asp

I've also looked at www.Maxwebportal.info
but this is running on an old version on snitz and I have seen their having problems a while back with hackers.

I've been using premodded for 3-4 years and I still have to do a lot of work modding stuff still. Each thing has it's good and bad points, and letting some one else do the work for u is a good one. but remember when snitz gets upgraded with new security patches you'l be left behind and possible open to attack.
