Hello

How do I stop spoof email address from attempting to register with the Forum. We can get over 200 spam email addresses in 2 days and I have to go through and delete them but checking there are no authentic registrations. Any help would be appreciated.

Neil

First, it would help to know which version of the forum you're running. If its not the latest, I would advise an upgrade.

Second, A quick search would turn up handy topics like this one: Sticky: Fighting back the spammer tide <

Hi

The version is [Snitz Forums 2000 Version 3.4.05]. How do I upgrade without losing the current registrations on the forum?

Thanks

Neil<

If you haven't installed any MODs or made any changes to the code other than config.asp - make a backup (always good advice ), overwrite the old files with the new ones, make the changes to config.asp to point to your existing database, and run setup.asp.

If you have installed MODs or made any changes to the code other than config.asp - you'll need to re-make those changes to the new version of the code and the rest is the same.

If you have any other questions, issues, etc. just post them here in the appropriate place with a good, descriptive subject line and someone will be able to help. <
