*ahem* dude!
The awards died out a couple of years ago, I only re-nominated mine for a bit of fun. It's a great idea but to be honest, there's not enough regulars or investing newcomers to make it worthwhile.
Shame, though. Mine's changed an awful lot for the better since I won my award back in 1853! |

these ones aren't strictly mine, they are run by my brother (he did the designs etc), but I actually helped with most of the modding of the forum code and it's integration into the .net portals.

I could probably list another half a dozen sites with snitz forums that I am involved with, as well as the .net version.

the visitor stats for the site and the new members who register on a daily basis would not agree with your assumption MarkJH, and infact quite the opposite, the number of visitors has been increasing steadily over the past few months |

That's a good thing, though, I would say that the proof of the pudding is in the eating. How many of these new members are "showing off" their forums and doing more to them than just removing them from the box? It's undeniably great to have more and more new visitors but it would be greater still if these became active members, MOD writers and potential award winners. |

sorry, but what does that prove other than they didn't really like the product ? There is nothing wrong with having a bog standard forum, that just shows what a good product it is,, and not everyone wants to show off. And all the fact that no new mods are materialising proves is that most of them must be written already. |

Oook... 8/20 forums have been voted as of Wednesday 7 March 2007. Do you think I should edit the round parameters? |

Sorry, I blame it on lack of coffee.... Besides, you were already on the list.... or whatever excuse will remove the taste of foot from my mouth.
Max, like I mentioned a little earlier, if you didn't already add dayve's burning souls forum, you probably ought to. |

I don't think I've ever left anything "out of the box". It just goes against everything I believe in.

Well, I'm learning something every single day, but I'm still a long way from writing mods. I really wish I could. I will say this, I attempt almost everything myself now, before I ask for help. Quite a few things now I'm very close, just need that extra little nudge.
One thing I've learned is, the jump from tweaking code to writing code might as well be the Grand Canyon. I've done some pretty darned creative tweaking, but if I had to write it myself, I'd be totally lost. I think there are a lot of people around here like that. Maybe that's why not as many people stick around and write mods as you would think.
I know I was very intimidated around here at first. I knew nothing and everybody else knew everything. I was welcomed though and I stuck around and tried to learn some things. Now there's actually some times where I can help around here. Not often, but there things that I've run into in the past occasionally. I think there's a lot of people that don't get past that first stage though.

I agree with all of that but that's not what I'm talking about. I'm just saying that aren't many new members who are wanting to show off what they've done to the standard Snitz. There's nothing wrong with the "out of the box" Snitz, most people are obviously happy enough to plug it in, with maybe a MOD or two attached, and leave it be. It's just that that's not going win any awards here, is it? |

Well I don't usually customize forums, my graphicall skills could be better. I may help with a mod or two, a database upgrade here and there, but that's basically it.
I did change one to integrate it with the site: http://forcespoetry.co.uk/forum
Not much into it, really, but the integration purpose was achieved... |

I don't get over here much, usually just to post some helpfull info now and again, but I have half a dozen Snitz based highly customized web sites up on my dedicated Vales.Com server.
My gaming sites show off how I intergrated and implemented file sharing, and my new Elite Computers site for building your own PC push's the limit.
I limit abilities for guests so register if you want to see the good stuff.
I figure my implemation of your awesome open source code is worth a look see, so I throw my hat in too. |
