I was hosting my church website on a server under my own control while we developed it, and I added the Snitz Forum, cuz it rocks. Once we were getting ready to go live with it, I moved the site to GoDaddy hosting because that is who I had the domain through. Now, for some reason, member to member email works, and the registration and verification emails work, but when someone posts a reply to a topic, the topic owner never gets an email alert, and for some reason, I, as the forum administrator, never get an email telling me that someone is waiting for registration approval. I have to keep going in and checking to see if anyone has registered.
We wanted to unveil the site tomorrow at church, but I may have to remove the link to the message boards, because it's not reliable yet. I don't want the entire church population registering on the forum and having it not work correctly.
Here's the bullet, CDONTS is the only way I can get ANY mail to go through. CDOSYS doesn't work at all on their service, even though their support said it would. I even created a test .asp page with a very simple, hard-coded CDOSYS email test to myself. No go.
I have a mailbox setup with GoDaddy that is the forum administrators email address in the config section. It copies all mail to my home email address. I have no spam filtering on my mail server or on my mail client. Nothing shows up at home, and nothing shows up in the mailbox at GoDaddy.
Any insight at all on why I get user to user mail, and registration verification to the user, but not to the admin, and no alerts that there is a reply to my posts?

I could be wrong on this but to get an email you must have subscriptions enabled are they? About getting an email when waiting to validate I have turned this on in one of my forums and there is no email sent when this happens I believe this is not supposed to send you an email when someone registers but again I may be mistaken I have only used those features on a very limited basis.
Hope that helps or at least gets you started |

JJenson is right - you need to enable subscriptions to get an e-mail when a new post is made. For the record, be sparse when enabling subscriptions as too many can slow your site down. There's a good tutorial on this floating around if you get stuck.
As for the registration, the base code doesn't e-mail you when someone's pending, but if memory serves there is a MOD on www.snitzbitz.com that should do the trick. |

Thank you guys for the replies. I was checking my email to see if anyone had replied yet. I was surprised when I saw 2 replies to my post without any email. Then I read them and felt foolish.
I guess I was assuming that subscriptions were automatic. I would like to turn them on, but I didn't see exactly where to do it. There was a setting in Feature Configuration that says Highest level of Subscription: and I have it set to Subscribe by Forum. Is that correct, or should it be changed to something else? Is there anything else I need to set in order for the owner of a post to get an email indicating that their post has been replied to?
As for the email notification of someone registering, I found a mod on snitzblitz and applied it. That worked perfectly. Here I thought it was flaky email this whole time.
Thanks again for your help |

Thank you, ruirib, that tutorial showed exactly what to do. I'm all set to unveil the website with the forum included tomorrow at church.
Thanks for all of your replies, guys! |

Glad you got what you needed.
You going to show it off to the rest of us in the "Show off your Forum" forum? |
