Hi

I have just installed the new version and have come accross a problem with mail validation and the jump to menu.

Email Problem:
During the setting up in the admin function, if you go to the member detail selection, and deselect the following
Occupation Off:
Homepages Off:
Favorite Links Off:
Marital Status Off:
Bio Off:
Hobbies Off:
Latest News Off:
Quote Off:

Then go to the email server configuration and select the following
Require Unique E-mail On:
E-mail Validation On:

Then when a user registers, they go through the registration and receive the email but when they click on the link to activate the page errors out and the activation cannot be completed.

Further to that if I log in as admin and see the user is pending as they cannot activate, If I try to activate for them I get the same error.

Jump to problem:

I am running the forum in a frame page. All the links work fine and load back to a single page if home is selected etc etc. The problem I am having is the Jump To Menu (Which currently I have disabled in the admin config). If the jump to menu is selected and the user selects Home from there, the page opens the main page in the forum frame.

Can you tell me which page has the jump menu on so I can remove that option.

By the way I have set up snitz forum for a few of my clients over the past few years as I think it is perhaps one of the better ones out there (Aside from the fact I am a lazy bugger and never find the time to do my own)

KInd regards
Patrick

Many thanks
Patdundee

What is the operating system of your server? If it is Windows NT/2000, then what MDAC (Microsoft Data Access Components) version is installed on your server? I went through something like this a while ago and that was the issue for the link in the E-mail Validation and the Jump To.

Cheers,

Hi guys

Sorry System details as follows

Win2000 Server Database is on MySql Version 3.23.49 MySql ODBC Driver 3.51.12-win32

For Example I have disabled the following in the Member Details Configuration
Home Page
Favorite Links
Bio
Hobbies
Latest News
Quote

A user would register and receive the email with no problem. However when they reply to the email via the link the error below is what is generated. I also get the same error if I log in and try to activate the pending member.

error '80020009'
Exception occurred.

/forum1/inc_func_common.asp, line 248

If all the options are selected for the Member Details Configuration everything works fine.

The jump menu is self explanitory, I just need to know the page that <select> menu is on for that one if poss please

Many thanks

I don't think there is an option for disabling the Jump To box, you will have to edit the code to get rid of it - Just search for "inc_jump_to" in every page that has it, and delete the appropriate code.

I read that, but there is no error message stated. "Errors out" does not allow me to know what is happening. Can you tell us the exact error message, as Jorrit had asked?

Note - I may take a few days to recieve your email. Hotmail filters all new emails as junk. Would be best to post all questions, concerns in a forum topic to catch my immediate attention. This way others can assist and also correct any similar mistakes.
