I'm trying to recover from the recent Snitz forum attack. I've updated members.asp as suggested.

I note that the 'admin' user was deleted during the attack, so I manually set M_STATUS=1 (it was 0) for user 'admin' in the file FORUM_MEMBERS. However, I find that even though I can login as 'admin', the Admin options is not visible.

Suggestions?

Hey... I have read all of the admin problem post and still cannot fix this problem..

Seem to be having similar problems as most... my admin will not login... have tried every possible password and says wrong password. I do not remember changing it.

I use Front Page to edit the site and tried finding the FORUM_MEMBERS page... could not find the section where members exist in the html... so that I could change the password or creat a new admin...

I do have another user set up and can use it as administrator if I can change its security level...

Any ideas?

Thanks for your help...

You have to set a users member level in the database, not in any pages. So you need to set the user Admin's M_LEVEL to 3 in the database.

where is the database at??

I have been using Front Page to edit my website after having it developed by someone else. They are difficult to access and I need to get this fixed soon. I have opened ever page in the Forum with notepad and do not see a place where the password exists in order to change admin back. I also, do not see anywhere that I can change the M_LEVEL to 3... can you please give a bit more detail? I am ussually quick at catching on... this has got me stumpted. Thanks for your help!

Where you uploaded it too...if someone else set it up then may have to ask then to look at it for you.
